Welcome
When the school bell rings in the afternoon, as many as 15 million “latchkey children” return to an empty house on any given afternoon. Many of those are right here in our community. The difference between parents’ work schedules and their children’s school schedules often totals between 20 and 25 hours a week and many more than that during the summer. The children most at risk are the ones that are alone early on and spend more hours in the latchkey situation. The highest rate of juvenile crime is between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
SeeSaw Children’s Place is the only nonprofit, nonsectarian, licensed afterschool program for school age children from 4 to 12 years old in Longview offering scholarships to low income families who qualify.
Located on two (2) school campuses and serving three (3) school districts;
- Longview ISD
- Pine Tree ISD
- Spring Hill ISD
During the summer and holidays, the hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. Children go on educational and fun field trips (swimming, zoo, museums, etc). For most of these children, this is their vacation and many have not had these opportunities. SeeSaw Children’s Place also provides working parents, grandparents and/or guardians with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that their children are safe and cared for.
SeeSaw has recently expanded to caring for 18 months to 4 years in their new location at 1450 W. Fairmont. The building has been completely renovated with new equipment and appliances. The hours for this facility are from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Scholarships are also available for those who qualify.
Sincerely,

Executive Director, SeeSaw Children's Place
